Horn of Plenty
Miles Davis' Kind of Blue contains all the relevant sounds:
from the squeal of William Brewster's "great iron screw"
pulled from the press to save the ship below the "Blue in Green"
to the wail of Tisquantum returning from England
to find his village vanquished by pestilence & plague,
to that soft sound of shucking corn & scaling fish
to the slam of the hammer, the flint-lock, & the axe.
But if you listen very closely during "All Blues"
you can hear the coming of ships & ships & more ships
announcing the birth of a teeming nation of nations:
the mixing of the blood of the willing & the blood of the unwilling.
By the time you make it to the alternate take of "Flamenco Sketches"
you can't help but be full of thanks for an abundance of anything:
of pain, of pride, of patience, but mostly for the people given to you for the breaking of bread.

After reading "The Good Son" I thought that I should not post on top of it as the cream should remain there--and this is far from cream compared to that! Great work. A great work!
