delusion
she misses him still
despite the revelation
coming to her
during a silly, sappy song
that it wasn't
she the great temptress
no hester to dimmesdale
no all-consuming love to rival
heaven and hell
if there exists a woman
he can't live without
it certainly isn't her
he did not risk everything for
her
so much as for
it
since she's played that part before
she'll cede the role
to the next aspiring wannabe
who thinks
being it
is enough
despite the revelation
coming to her
during a silly, sappy song
that it wasn't
she the great temptress
no hester to dimmesdale
no all-consuming love to rival
heaven and hell
if there exists a woman
he can't live without
it certainly isn't her
he did not risk everything for
her
so much as for
it
since she's played that part before
she'll cede the role
to the next aspiring wannabe
who thinks
being it
is enough

Is this a stance against a former you or a current one? or both? I rarely give myself a chance to think about the way a former me thought about former "loves". I guess I am weak that way.
I applaud the poem and your conscience!
