Self-fulfilling

I predict a miracle:
time will slow down &
seconds will crawl
droplets of water, slowly
& before our eyes disappear
as optical illusions or desires.

they used to say that teachers
had three reasons to stay happy—
now we are down to two
but who’s counting
& I won’t complain
these coming days away

but make them last by ignoring their end
like the dead we hide or hide behind
the answer is as simple as rain
time won’t be stopped
& collecting it just
makes it hard to carry.
