Sonnet: All This Blue

I’m wide awake / I’m dreaming
all this blue is not the sky
& the books that I am reading
slowly making me go blind
& the sun is always flashing
& the words are always wrong
my flesh might be my weakness
but my spirit’s far from strong
& these sins still need washing
& these memories need reclaimed
my visions becoming reckless
but my dreams are not to blame
I’m wide awake/ I’m dreaming
all this blue behind the eyes.

really, really, very good--"& these sins still need washing / & these memories need reclaimed" both lines are great, and the repetition is particularly effective. great last line!
